This independent website covers gold and silver IRAs and the purchase of physical metal, and it sets three sellers of that metal side by side.
What this site is
Think of us as a publisher and nothing more. Dealing in metal, acting as a custodian, running a depository and giving financial advice are all outside what we do. No money passes through our hands and no accounts are opened here. Once you follow a link to one of the companies, your dealings are with that company alone.
The articles come from the site's editorial team and carry the site's name rather than a byline. The work is collective, and we would prefer that readers weigh our sources over a signature.
How we rank companies
The ranking puts three companies through the same set of outside-checkable questions:
- the length of time each has been in business, plus its Better Business Bureau rating and accreditation
- the amount each one explains to a buyer ahead of the sale
- what each puts in writing about buying metal back
- whether the storage location is named
- the amount required to open an account, and whether that amount is made public
We did not test any company. Nobody here has placed an order with these firms or posed as a customer, and the ranking itself states this. What you read is general information. It is no recommendation to buy, and it has no way of accounting for your own finances.
Where our facts come from
Each company's own website and Better Business Bureau profile supply the facts about it. Every fact carries a date, and the homepage holds a running update history. If a company leaves something unpublished, we tell you to ask the company directly and do not fill the gap with a number from some other site. IRS material is the source for retirement account rules, and every page names its sources.
What we leave out
- Company costs. Numbers floating around online tend to be wrong or stale, so we leave them out. Ask each company to send its current schedule in writing.
- Price predictions. No one can say where metal prices will head.
- Personal advice. Your situation is unknown to us. A licensed professional with no stake in the sale is the right person to ask.
How the site earns money
Affiliate links pay for the site. Should you reach Augusta Precious Metals, Goldco or American Hartford Gold through a link here, we may receive a commission, and the price you pay stays the same. Read the whole statement on the affiliate disclosure page.
Getting in touch and corrections
There is no contact form, phone line, email address or support desk on this site, so we are unable to answer questions about an order or an account. If you have one, reach out to the company you bought from, whose phone number appears on its own website.
Corrections do not arrive by message here. Instead we go back over company facts on a regular basis, and each edit to a page is logged in that page's update history. Look at the date on the page in front of you to see how current it is.
